How Your Organization Can Help
The Union County Humane Society is a non-profit organization serving Union County and the more than 1,200 animals that come through our doors each year.
With a 90% adoption rate, our mission is to connect animals with people, enrich lives, and support the community through spay/neuter programs, education, and disaster
It takes a lot to run a private nonprofit Humane Society each year. Being privately funded, yet also operating as the local “animal shelter” in Union County,
we are the only facility for strays in the County. Your organization can help provide the animal foods and other supplies we need to maintain the health and safety of
the animals at our facility.
Pet Supply Drives
There are a variety of ways to host a Pet Supply Drive. . . the only limits are your imagination! Here are some ideas:
You can download a pdf of these Pet Supply Drive ideas.
- Department vs. Department/ Class vs. Class/ etc.
Have Departments in your organization compete against each other to see who can raise the most money to buy items.
- Cats vs. Dogs
Hold a contest to see which brings in more items — for cats or for dogs. Or, put out collection jars and employees can vote for cats or dogs with monetary donations.
- Drive Day
Host a drive day, and anyone who donates an item earns a dress-down day or other reward offered by the company or organization.
- Kitten Shower (Spring)
April showers bring. . . kittens! Kittens in our shelter and with foster families need specific items such as kitten milk, canned kitten food,
heating pads, paper towels and clay litter. An internet search on ‘kitten shower’ will give you fantastic ideas. . . and it’s a reason to have cake!
You can host a kitten shower with your Church, Civic Organization, Girl/Boy Scout Troop, or with friends. You are welcome to host
the kitten shower at the shelter and learn more about the animals and have cupcakes! Click here for specific recommendations for Kitten Shower
Once your group or business collects items or donations, our staff can arrange pick up. We would also be happy to give a presentation on our shelter, dog safety or pet care.
We’ll bring a shelter friend with us if you’d like!
Or, you are welcome to bring items to UCHS during open hours and have a tour of our facility and meet some new furry friends!
